Reading recs from our booksellers!

Looking for some reading inspo? We've got you! Check out what our booksellers have been loving recently and hear what exactly makes them fans of their chosen books. We're all big readers (surprise surprise) across different genres and tastes, so you're bound to find something right for you in this collection.

Liv's recommendation: Birnam Wood by Eleanor Catton

I mean, what’s scarier than a billionaire annihilating a National Park in New Zealand for his own profit?? If you enjoy intricate eco-thrillers, incredible psychoanalysis, and tragic endings, then this is the read for you!

Darcy's recommendation: Woman's Lore by Sarah Clegg

A fascinating, in-depth exploration of the myths and legends surrounding seductive female monsters. Fundamental reading for anyone who loves to read about demonic women, witches and vampires, and is curious how these tropes have been moulded by anxieties about female sexuality.

Sara's recommendation: Somebody is Walking on Your Grave by Mariana Enriquez

Take a stroll through some of the most famous cemeteries around the world with the queen of horror herself–where the spookiest moments involve more the living, than the dead!

Liska's recommendation: Oddbody by Rose Keating

Would you still love your dad if he was a worm? Probably. What if your girlfriend got her skin made into a suit that she can take off whenever she wants? Every story in this collection made me stop and go: you’re right, this is what girlhood feels like (nauseating, horrifying, disgusting, violating, hopeful)

Kieran's recommendation: The Lamb by Lucy Rose

12-year-old Margot lives in a cottage in North England with her Mama, living a regular life of cannibalism in filth and squalor. Until someone arrives to disturb their perfect life. This captivating debut by Lucy Rose is disgusting, unsettling and horrific. I loved it!

Amanda's recommendation: The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane

This stunning book is steeped (pun intended) in traditions, superstitions, culture, family, and tea! It follows Li-Yan, who is born to the Akha people, an ethnic minority in rural China. Her life is forever changed by the birth of her daughter that she has to give up. It’s a beautiful, multi-generational family saga.
