An evening with Elspeth Wilson and Hester Musson
We're so excited to welcome Elspeth Wilson and Hester Musson to Rare Birds Book Shop this February to talk about their new novels - These Mortal Bodies & The Night Hag.
Elspeth's novel is a richly atmospheric campus novel, perfect for fans of The Secret History and dark academia, These Mortal Bodies is an intoxicating story of obsession, infatuation and toxic friendship in the world of the elites, where rules are made to be broken.
Hester is the best selling author of The Beholders. Her new novel, The Night Hag, is a gripping gothic mystery set in Scotland where Lil is an archaeologist plagued by nightmares when she discovers that a hoard unearthed at one of her digs may hold secrets to her past.
We can't wait to welcome them both into the store for a fascinating evening discussing some of the subjects both writers are most passionate about.
Tickets are £5 and can be redeemed against any purchase on the evening of the event.

About the authors
Elspeth Wilson is a Scottish writer and poet. These Mortal Bodies is her debut novel. Her poetry pamphlet Too Hot to Sleep was published in 2023. When she's not writing, she can usually be found in or near the sea.
Hester Musson's gothic historical novel The Beholders was a Times bestseller and shortlisted for the HWA Debut Crown in 2024. She lives in rural Scotland at the top of an old, jackdaw-haunted building, and it's beginning to show.
