We're so excited to welcome Claire Daverley & Emma Knight to Rare Birds Book Shop!

Claire's novel Talking at Night is a gorgeous book about first love and second chances, while Emma's book is part mystery part love story and a celebration of female friendship. We can't wait to welcome them both into the store for a fascinating evening discussing some of the subjects both writers are most passionate about. 

Tickets are £5 and can be redeemed against any purchase on the evening of the event.

About the authors

Claire Daverley was born in 1991 and has been writing stories ever since she was six years old. 

After graduating with a degree in Fine Art from the University of Oxford, she began a career in publishing, writing about books by day, but penning her own by night, on trains and in the light of the early mornings. 

She has spent most of her life in Hertfordshire, but now lives in Scotland by the sea with her husband and spaniel.

Her debut novel, Talking at Night, has sold in twenty-three territories to date, was selected for the Fearne Cotton Happy Place Book Club, shortlisted for the Debut of the Year at the British Book Awards 2023, long listed for the Waterstones Debut of the Year 2023, and shortlisted for the Nota Bene Prize 2024. She is currently writing her second novel. 

Emma Knight is a writer, journalist and entrepreneur based in Toronto. Emma's writing about books, maternal health and more has appeared in Literary Hub, British VOGUE, The Globe and Mail, The Walrus and The International New York Times.

Emma is a co-creator and co-host of the culture podcast, FANFARE and has two cookbooks published by Penguin Random House. 

Emma studied Modern Languages at the University of Edinburgh and has an MA in Journalism and an MSc. in International Development from Sciences Po, Paris. While in Paris, Emma worked for The New York Times and the World Association of Newspapers.
