Join us for a very special afternoon to celebrate the publication of Hattie Crisell's In Writing. Hattie will be in conversation with Maggie O'Farrell and the two will be discussing the ins and outs of the writer's life, covering everything from inspiration to creative desperation.

About the authors

Hattie Crisell is a freelance writer based in London. She produces and hosts the podcast In Writing with Hattie Crisell, interviewing writers of all kinds in their studies. Her book, In Writing: Conversations on Inspiration, Perspiration and Creative Desperation, will be published by Granta Books in November 2024. She is a contributing editor of Grazia magazine and have previously been acting features director of Grazia and acting fashion editor of The Times, and has also written for Bustle, Elle, Vogue, You, The Telegraph, The Evening Standard and The Sunday Times Style, among others.

Maggie O'Farrell is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, the author of Hamnet (winner of the Women's Prize for Fiction 2020), and the memoir I Am, I Am, I Am, both Sunday Times number one bestsellers. Her novels include: After You'd Gone, My Lover's Lover, The Distance Between Us (winner of a Somerset Maugham Award), The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox, The Hand That First Held Mine (winner of the 2010 Costa Novel Award), Instructions for a Heatwave, This Must be the Place and The Marriage Portrait (shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction 2023). She is also the author of two books for children: Where Snow Angels Go and The Boy Who Lost His Spark. She lives in Edinburgh.
